Seaside – Gaspésie – Stunning sunsets

The sea, rose bushes, sunsets, salty air, breaking waves—this is what you’ll find at Mon Petit Coin de Mer in Grosses Roches. Even the name of the village has a nice ring! The “Big Rocks” alluded to are barely visible at high tide, but in plain view when the tide goes out. Grosses Roches is about 20 minutes east of Matane in the Gaspé where the St. Lawrence Gulf is so wide that it’s virtually a sea. The far side is visible only to the west on clear days. To the east, the far shore is too distant to even glimpse. Here, the water is salty and the tide advances and retreats over some 150 feet of shoreline. On occasion, distant fog banks can be mistaken for the North Shore. No television here—everything moves to the cadence of the tide!

This charming little vacation home on the Gaspé Peninsula overlooking the Gulf of St. Lawrence is surrounded by rose bushes. Set on a sheltered cliff, the handsome property sits on Rue de la Mer, a dead-end street with almost no traffic. Let yourself be gently rocked to the rhythm of the waves, tide and sunsets.

Guests will enjoy strolling through the water at low tide. For a delicious supper, try your hand at fishing for plaice or cod (be sure to check the season and whether a permit is required). Not interested in fishing yourself? You can easily find the day’s catch at two fine fish markets in Matane. Mon Petit Coin de Mer is a great spot for sea kayaking. A number of tourist attractions in the region also offer very interesting activities related to the sea and nature.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREMISES

The cottage has 2 closed bedrooms with queen-size bed, a spare room with double bed in the semi-finished downstairs and an attractive full bathroom with separate shower. The large common area includes a kitchen, dining room and living room and view of the sea through large windows. Patio doors open onto a lovely wood deck bordered by rose bushes and overlooking the sea. Every evening, step out to admire the sunset—you’ll swear that you’re on the deck of a boat!

**For those allergic to animals: Although this property does not accept animals, the owners reserve the right to stay at the cottage occasionally with their dogs.
